William Morris, one of the founders of the British Arts and Crafts movement once said “"have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.”" I aspire to create pieces that are simple, useful and elegant.
The old teachers of bel canto taught that "one sings the way one speaks." For me, the Art of Singing and the Craft of Woodworking share this special quality of elegant simplicity.

The Singing Woodworker
Today I am a professional opera singer and a teacher of voice. But as a young man I spent two years learning the art of woodworking in Vermont. Now in Sherwood, Oregon, I spend my weekends in my shop creating hand-made furniture.
